Manchester United left the sixth posetion

Manchester United on the last Sunday moved up to fifth in the English Premier League as Middlesbrough’s first game after the sack of manager Aitor Karanka ended in a 3-1 defeat.


Without the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the injured Paul Pogba, Mourinho nonetheless left Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the bench and set out his side in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Marcus Rashford supported up front by Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard.

Ashley Young’s deep cross found Marouane Fellaini at the back post to head past Valdes before Jesse Lingard’s terrific strike doubled United’s lead after the break. Then former Manchester United keeper Valdes slipped in stoppage time and Antonio Valencia‘s tap-in secured the three points.
